DEMA uses funds raised through the annual DEMA Show and DEMA Membership dues to promote recreational diving using a variety of methods and media. DEMA has produced several Public Service Announcements which have been distributed to reach hundreds of thousands of potential or current divers. The PSAs are a cost effective way of reaching out to a potential audience and demonstrating the ease and fun of recreational diving while providing a public service message regarding safety and environmental protection.
The PSAs have been distributed throughout key diving locations since 2009, using traditional means such as cable and broadcast television and social media such as Facebook and YouTube. Participating DEMA-Member stores can also spread these PSAs using their own social media channels, tying into the larger “Be A Diver” branding campaign.
Public Service Announcements are only one type of promotion that DEMA conducts on behalf of DEMA Members. DEMA produces the DEMA Show, the Be A Diver Campaign, DiveCaching and the Be A Diver pool PR campaign, and conducts critical research for the diving industry to help promote recreational diving. As with the PSAs, all benefits are possible because of the funds DEMA earns through your participation in DEMA Show.
