About You and Dream Weaver Travel...

My name:
Steve Weaver

My job function in the company:
CEO - President

Years in business:
29 years

About Dream Weaver Travel:
We are a dive travel wholesaler, specializing in group travel.

Business mission/values:
Our mission is to provide exemplary customer service and to work very hard to make our dive store clients look good to their clients.

About You, "The Professional"...

How I was introduced to the professional diving industry:
My work experience and education was in retail merchandising. My first 1o years of work experience was in the clothing industry working for 2 major department store chains. During that time I became a certified diver and fell in love with the sport. I then worked for a Denver dive store for 3 years prior to starting my own business in 1983.

What I like best about my job:
The people I get to work with both as customers and as piers. Also the opportunities I have to dive the world.

Words of wisdom for those starting their career in the diving industry:
Treat it as a business and love what you do.

Best way to keep a competitive edge:
Read, listen and learn as much as you can.

Biggest change I have seen in the professional diving industry since I started:
Customers have more than one way to purchase goods and services, forcing retailers to work harder to keep their customers in house.

Mentor:
Jerry Beaty, John Boozer and Jim Mapes.

About You, "The Person"...

What I am most proud of:
The work I have done to encourage retailers to work together.

How I like to spend my free time:
With my nephews Luke & Nick! Diving of course.

Favorite quote:
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally used up and worn out, shouting '...man, what a ride!' George Carlin
