About You, "The Professional"...
How I was introduced to the professional diving industry:
I (Lonnie) grew up in a water bourne family with re-runs of the Sea Hunt series with Lloyd Bridges acting as Mike Nelson. I started diving in 1971 and absolutely love the act of underwater exploration. I discovered my love of teaching the sport some 18 years ago in the early nineties.
What I like best about my job:
Diving ! and being able to Share my Passion with others.
Words of wisdom for those starting their career in the diving industry:
Learn all you can from your mentor and do not try to advance too fast. Take time to get Experience ! You and your clients will see the difference it will make.
Best way to keep a competitive edge:
Stay abreast of changing technology and always remember you have more to learn.
Biggest change I have seen in the professional diving industry since I started:
Training Standards for the better.
My Mentor? The late Ralph Stogsdall, NAUI 3409L and more current, Tim O'Leary, NAUI 10144L.
