About You and SEI-PDIC...
My job function in the company:
Years in business:
Scuba Educators International started when YMCA of the USA terminated the 40-year scuba program in 2008. Since then we purchased PDIC International and operate both training agencies from our offices in Muncie, Indiana.
Goal(s) for 2013:
To provide materials, standards and instructor training for our leadership, focusing on a full education for scuba students. Our Open Water Diver students spend more time in classroom and pool and have more contact with their dive center than most other agencies, thus developing a relationship that continues educational opportunities for each diver.
Greatest achievement in 2012:
Expanding our number of instructors to 35 USA states and 24 countries outside.
About You, "The Professional"...
What I find most rewarding about my job:
Providing full service to our instructors - from not only myself but from our office staff.
What I am most proud of (professionally):
Not allowing the concept of a full scuba education to die with the passing of the YScuba program and the rehab of the PDIC organization.
Greatest piece of business advice I ever received:
Be conservative in your business approach, investigate possible changes well, have a business plan for the next three to five years that is updated annually, and follow that plan.
Where I see myself and/or business in 5 years:
We will constantly improve our materials and ability to provide the best possible service to our leadership. Perhaps there are additonal agencies that are struggling that could use our help promoting the full education concept to their leadership and students.
About You, "The Person"...
Favorite place to dive:
Our local Philips Outdoor Center quarry in Muncie, only 10 minutes from the office - of course. However, a great dive vacation to the Carribean is great too.
Most memorable dive experience:
A week on a ship diving the Islands of Indonesia - equaled by a dive on Bloody Bay Wall off Little Cayman.
Providing a difference in the lives of persons experiencing the other half our world.
Something people would be surprised to learn about me:
My background includes 31 years in the photo industry and at retirement had 250 employees (and a bleeding ulcer) and of course, continued those photo principles underwater throughout the world.
