About You, "The Professional"...
What I find most rewarding about my job:
Introducing travelers to the charm of Costa Rica which we have been doing since 1970.
What I am most proud of (professionally):
Being the first scuba diving instructor in Costa Rica with the first professional dive shop.
Greatest piece of business advice I ever received:
Chuck Porter told me in 1990 to start adding "Bill Beard" to all my signs and advertising that had up till then only had our company name..
Where I see myself and/or business in 5 years:
Developing more areas and activities in areas not frequented by the normal tourist movers with an emphasis on new dive areas and wildlife observation tours.
About You, "The Person"...
Favorite place to dive:
Costa Rica Mainland & Costa Rica Cocos Islands
Most memorable dive experience:
Bat Islands, Costa Rica on New Years eve day 1995. Manta Rays, humpback whales, whale shark, bull sharks and orcas all in one day, Fishing on the surface interval and catching mahi mahi and tuna that the hotel prepared for the group from Houston and we had a wonderful New Years eve.
Robert Frost. "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood And sorry I could not travel both so I took the road less traveled."
Something people would be surprised to learn about me:
I had a great job with 3M Company that I gave up to go diving. I have never regretted that decision.
