DEMA's Scuba Tour Starts Year Strong With Hundreds of Potential New Divers Trying Scuba at Tour Events

AOL's "Running Man" Tries Scuba During Latest Tour Stop in Washington, DC. Other events in New York, Chicago and Dallas attract hundreds!

San Diego-The DEMA Scuba Tour continues to make a splash in each and every city it visits. Last weekend, hundreds of participants tried scuba diving for the first time at the NBC4 Health Fit Expo in Washington, DC. One of the participants was the well-known "running man" from American On-line's promotional efforts.

According to event organizers, a new record was set as nearly 700 people took their first breaths underwater at the annual event. In addition to the Washington DC event, the Scuba Tour has also participated in the New York National Boat Show, the Health Fit Expo in Dallas and recently returned from the Chicagoland Outdoors Show in Chicago.

The most exciting news about the Scuba Tour is the number of DEMA Retailers that are becoming involved. "This event is built to help retailers in their local market and dive stores are responding. In New York, eight different retail stores came together for a highly successful Tour stop. Every day, we receive calls from retailers asking how they can get involved," says Chris Fuller, DEMA's Manager of Retail Programs. To date, 31 DEMA Member dive stores have participated in Scuba Tour events. The opportunity for retailers to take part is strong with more than two dozen Scuba Tour stops planned through the remainder of the year.

Fuller said that the Scuba Tour's newly revised website ( is a very effective and appealing reason for retailers to get involved. At every event, participants are directed to the site, which lists all participating local retailers. This makes it easy for potential new students to follow-up their experience at the Scuba Tour by enrolling in a course.

"The new site is yet another tool and it's bringing more customers than ever into DEMA Member stores," Fuller said.
