About You and SeaVentures, Inc ...

My name:
Wyatt Foster

My job function in the company:
CEO and Director of Scuba Training

About SeaVentures, Inc :
SeaVentures was started in March of 1990 as a way to provide quality scuba instruction and travel to the greater Atlanta area. It is the realization of a dream for Wyatt & Beverly Foster. Their concept has grown from a small enterprise to the southeast’s largest scuba retail facility.

Wyatt grew up in the business at his family’s scuba store in Sandy Springs, Georgia. Beverly began her diving experiences in 1986 in the caverns and caves of Central Florida. With over 30 years in the industry, the Fosters know what it takes to run a successful dive facility.

SeaVentures is headquartered in an 8,000-square-foot facility. The complex features an indoor heated pool with a deep diving well and the most extensive scuba equipment inventory in the southeast.

We are much more than a dive shop. Our mission is to provide training and equipment for all people who enjoy the water. That includes Swimmers, Snorkelers, Scuba Divers, and Travelers. Our Swim Program has grown to over 1000 swimmers each year.

Being located inland does not deter us from providing plenty of diving opportunities. The PADI Wagon, our private motor coach, is used to transport our customers to the Florida Keys in style each month. We also organize at least 4 exotic dive trips per year. Additionally, local “Drive and Dive” weekends are great for training and certification in local quarries.

We recently celebrated the 24th Anniversary of SeaVentures in March of 2014 and we think this is just the beginning!

Tell us about your dive club or any fun promotional activities you do for local divers:

  • Anniversary Event – Each year we have a weekend filled with Nationally Known Speakers, Seminars, Gear Demos, Food, Music, and Thousands of Dollars in Prizes
  • Monthly Fun Meet-up Events at SeaVentures
  • Drive and Dive: Local quarry diving several times a year
  • Monthly diving trips to the Florida Keys aboard The PADI Wagon, our private motor coach

Your advice for someone wanting to open their own dive shop:
Learn from my mistakes and successes. I have taken lots of notes in my 30 years of experience. Feel free to reach out to me for Consultation.

Where I see the business in 5 years:
  • More emphasis on Dive Centers as the hub of activity
  • Dive Centers creating stronger connections with customers
  • New Equipment Technologies
  • A Need to Adapt to changes in Social Media
  • Increased Need for Maintaining Online Presence
