In addition to DEMA's "Five Resources to Protect Your Dive Business in the Face of COVID-19," below you will find some additional resources to help your business navigate the challenges presented as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA or Act)

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA or Act) requires certain employers to provide their employees with paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. These provisions will apply from April 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020.

Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to Offer Assistance to U.S. Small Businesses

The programs and initiatives in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act that was just passed by the U.S. Congress and signed by the President are intended to assist U.S. business owners with whatever needs they have right now. Many U.S. diving businesses could be eligible and you should review this material to help determine your businesses’ eligibility.

When implemented, there will be many new resources available for U.S. small businesses, as well as certain non-profits and other employers. This guide provides information about the major programs and initiatives that will soon be available from the Small Business Administration (SBA) to address these needs, as well as some additional tax provisions that are outside the scope of SBA.

DEMA encourages every U.S. diving business to review The Small Business Owners Guide to the CARES Act and apply for these resources.

SBA Disaster Loans

Dive businesses in most states and US territories are now eligible for these SBA Disaster Loans. You can apply for an SBA disaster loan by calling the SBA at 1-800-659-2955 or start the application process online. To find access to your local SBA resources, click here. Don’t wait – these resources are finite and may take time to process.
