Idea:   Strategic Planning & Leadership Development
Now is the opportune time to think big picture about long-term strategy for your business, including who will succeed you when you're ready to retire. Identify and begin grooming 2-3 possible leaders to take over when the time is right. Train them and teach them how to run your business successfully, especially in the challenging times. Involve them in the strategic planning for post-COVID business operations.

Idea:   Ask Customers to Reschedule Rather Than Refund
This may seem obvious, but it took me a minute to get it. Everyone who asks for a refund receives a variation of the following from us: "Before we set up the refund, I was wondering whether you would consider an alternative. As you may be aware, the tourism industry (like many others) is taking a big hit right now and many of us are nervous about how to make it through this. I realize our industry is not alone in this predicament and that what we’re about to ask may not work for you. If not, we totally understand. Would you consider letting us hold your payment for a future booking? It would help a lot if our future customers would consider postponing rather than cancelling their upcoming dives. To express our gratitude, we would also include a 10% discount when you allow us to hold your prepayment and use it to re-book at some point in the next three years. If this doesn’t work for you, I totally understand and will process your refund on Monday. Either way, thank you and I hope we get to take you diving again in the future" Since our shop is now closed for the duration, our voicemail also includes a variation of this - you can call 808-874-5332 to hear what we're saying. MANY people have been very kind and generous as a result of this. It doesn't hurt to ask! Several have even turned down the discount.

Idea:   Offer Hand Sanitizer to Your Customers!
Customers asked me to start making Hand Sanitizer due to its shortage. I was able to purchase the ingredients before ingredients were no longer on the shelf, and prices started increasing dramatically! I also decided to offer them in sturdy aluminum bottles that are refillable, reusable, and recyclable when no longer needed. My product line no longer carries recyclable plastic bottles because all locations in the USA, and the world, do not have recycle programs. Take a look at my hand sanitizer bottles for ideas on how to create your own and offer them to your customers.

Idea:   "Great Time for Service"
It is a good time to get your equipment serviced. we will pick it up, you can drop it off by the door and do not even need to get out of the car or send it in. This is a great time to get everything ready for the season.

Idea:   Just want to share that to help others through this COVID-19, and the unavailability of Hand Sanitizer, I am making and selling Hand Sanitizer for individual sales as well as business sales. Individual sales are available at my website (shop for hand sanitizer). Businesses may contact me directly to get wholesale prices to purchase a case, or cases. There are 24 bottles to a case. Of course, "free shipping" with a minimum order of 4 cases. The Hand Sanitizer comes in 2-ounce aluminum spray bottles that are refillable, recyclable and reusable. The ingredients are isopropyl alcohol (70%), aloe vera gel, and lavender essential oil (to scent). Dries quickly and smells nice. Here to help. Lita

Idea:   "Gift Card vs Refund"
Since no one knows when travel will start up again, we are offering a Gift Card for a slightly higher dollar value than the deposited amount. For example, if a 1-day charter is $159, if WE cancel the trip, it will either be rescheduled or they can receive a store Gift Card for $165. We are only giving up to $6 and save additional credit card fees. If the customer chooses to use the gift card on gear instead of travel, great! There's a bigger mark up on that item.

Idea:   "Pay Now, Dive Later"
We're contacting last year's students and suggesting they enroll in the next class now. We will be getting them the online codes or mail the books so they can start. We will do some of the knowledge development by Skype or other media.
